Café Marmalade Liverpool
Café Marmalade is an authentic Mediterranean café located on Pembroke Street, facing the main road.
Its aesthetic of open brick walls, wooden flooring and soft yellow lights gives a warm and cosy vibe, with soft music providing a soothing atmosphere.
There is also an upright piano in the centre of the café and a fantastic set of industrial-style chandeliers that adds to its charm.
The menu consists of a mix of Mediterranean and English breakfasts, lunches, sandwiches, pastries and beverages. Café Marmalade is also famous for serving a large collection of herbal teas and also offers vegan and vegetarian options for plant-based customers.
French toast is one of the most popular dishes among the customers according to Sabiha, the owner and manage.
She said: “When we serve French toast, the plates are completely clean when we collect them.” Sabiha also recommends a flat white with oat milk as one of their best barista brews.
So, if you fancy french toast or fluffy pancakes, then Café Marmalade is the perfect place to soothe your cravings.
You can pop into the café to eat in or for a takeaway from Monday – Friday from 9.30am – 4pm.
Café Liverpool Palace
Café Liverpool Palace is a traditional Turkish café located at the centre of Monument Place. It opened in 2014, taking over the space which previously housed Italian restaurant Bel Piatto.
Café Liverpool Palace serves both English and Turkish food, from simple breakfast options to have on the go to full Turkish breakfasts. They also serve traditional Kurdish coffee and all at very affordable prices, with most items priced between £1 – £6.50.
Café Liverpool Palace is also the only café with a fully licensed bar in Monument Place.
Owner Yucel said: “We want our customers to be happy with our service so if there is any problem with an order, it can be replaced without any hassle. The food can also be customised and prepared according to any specifications given by the customers”.
The café has got a large seating arrangement on its ground and upper floor as well as outdoor seating option and accepts party orders for any big or small event
Students also get special food discounts and discount on alcohol when they step in.
The café is open Monday to Saturday from 9am – 5pm and on Sundays from 10am – 2pm.
Sketch Bar & Coffee Spot
A colourful and funky coffee shop that turns into a bar at night, Sketch Bar & Coffee Spot is located on London Road, close to Liverpool Lime Street Station and just three minutes’ walk from the Walker Art Gallery.
Sketch is a go-to place to work and to play, especially for students who would want to catch up on their work or enjoy a fun night with the haunt’s free jukebox. The café provides free WiFi, plug points for laptops and a 20% discount for students.
Sketch is most popular for hosting Wednesday night quizzes (with first prize a £30 bar tab), karaoke and open mic nights, with free entry for live music events at the weekends. Some of the artists who have previously performed at Sketch include Dan Parker, Joe Maddocks and Andy Fallows.
Their menu is vast with options to choose from English breakfast tea to tequila shots, and deals on drinks including an interesting mix of cocktails. There is also a good range of alcohol-free beers, live sports shown and happy hour every Monday – Thursday from 12pm – 6pm.
